Visual effects facility Spin VFX has released version 2.0 of Nuke Gizmos, its popular open-source collection of tools for Foundry’s compositing software. The tools, all used in production at the studio, cover a range of common tasks, including camera projection, relighting, light wrapping, colour matching and spill correction.
The gloriously named We Suck Less Fusion user community (WSL) has released Reactor 2.0, a major update to its open-source package manager for Fusion that adds support for sister application DaVinci Resolve.
The update comes with a new package that restores features missing from the version of the Fusion toolset integrated into DaVinci Resolve 15, plus a new version of the Notepad++ source code editor for Fusion itself.
Install or distribute add-on content for Fusion at the click of a button
First released earlier this year, Reactor is designed to streamline the installation and management of third-party content for Fusion, Blackmagic Design’s desktop compositing software.

The software makes it possible to use content like scripts, macros, templates and titles by syncing its ‘atom’ packages with an online Git repository, rather than having to install individual files manually.

The initial release came with content including a Fusion implementation of automated ID matte generation system Cryptomatte, popular free plugin collection Krokodove, and Muse VFX‘s glitch effects tools.
It even included the Fusion water set-up that Uncharted Territory used on Roland Emmerich’s Anonymous.
New in Reactor 2.0: support for DaVinci Resolve, plus new tools for Resolve and Fusion
To that, Reactor 2.0 adds support for DaVinci Resolve, Fusion’s sister application, designed for colour grading, editing – and, as of last month’s beta update – compositing.
It even ships with a Resolve Essentials atom, which restores “several key missing Fusion Standalone features” not included with the version of the Fusion toolset integrated into DaVinci Resolve 15.
There is also a new MediaOutUltra node, which enables users to write multi-channel EXR files to disk from inside DaVinci Resolve’s Fusion page; and Sqlite3, which makes it possible to read the raw data stored in a Resolve 15 project file database from the command prompt and in scripts.
Fusion users get a new Notepad++ for Fusion atom, which provides a version of the popular free Notepad++ source code editor with syntax highlighting for Fusion’s standard file formats.

Overall performance has been improved, with “substantially shorter” startup times and improved error logging; and the Atomizer package editor itself gets a revamped GUI and command line support.
System requirements and availability
Reactor 2.0 is available for Fusion and Fusion Studio 9.0.2+ or DaVinci Resolve and DaVinci Resolve Studio 15 beta 3 or later running on Windows, Linux and macOS, under a GNU GPL v3 licence.
The installer script can be downloaded via the link below. The public content repository – which includes the atom packages themselves can be found here.
